A Jackson-Madison County Schools student has died this morning after suffering a medical crisis of unknown origin while riding a school bus. The student was accompanied on the bus by his private-duty nurse who immediately began CPR. The student was transported by ambulance to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver and a special education assistant were also on the bus and rendered aid.
The student, whose name is being withheld, was a student at Northeast Middle School.
UPDATE: The Jackson-Madison County School system is not releasing the name of an East Middle School student who died yesterday. The student, according to the school system, had a “medical crisis” while riding a school bus and was transported to Jackson Madison County General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The student had an accompanying nurse on the bus with him that administered CPR before emergency personnel could arrive on the scene.
